Trex Company, Inc. warrants to the original end-use purchaser that, for the applicable Warranty Period, when properly installed, used, and maintained under normal conditions and in accordance with Trex’s written instructions, Trex® Fencing shall be free from material defects in workmanship and materials, and shall not split, splinter, rot or suffer structural damage from termites or fungal decay.
exclusions
What is not covered
This warranty does not cover any condition attributable to:
- Improper installation or failure to follow Trex’s installation guidelines
- Use beyond normal conditions, or in an application not recommended by Trex’s guidelines or local building codes
- Movement, distortion, collapse, or settling of the ground or supporting structure
- Any act of God (flooding, hurricane, earthquake, lightning, etc.)
- Improper handling, storage, abuse, or neglect by the purchaser or third parties
- Installations where the atmosphere is influenced by salt water or other contaminants, where Trex’s cleaning guidelines have not been followed
- Ordinary weathering (natural fading within the warranted threshold)
- Products not listed in the warranty table (e.g., Trex decking, cladding, fascia, and fasteners — which carry separate warranties)
Transferability
For installations where the atmosphere is influenced by a body of salt water, failure to adhere to Trex’s cleaning guidelines will void the warranty with respect to any condition resulting from such failure. The standard galvanized Horizons steel frame is not recommended within approximately 5 miles of salt water — specify the stainless steel option for coastal installations.
General conditions
Products must be stored, handled, installed, used, and maintained in accordance with Trex’s written instructions. This Limited Warranty is conditioned upon compliance with all such instructions. Copies of Trex’s Installation Guides are available at trexfencing.com/resources/installation-resources/.
