Preparing for a New Fence
Chances are, you are either putting in your first fence or it has been a long time since the last time a fence was installed at your property. A fence installation doesn’t need to be daunting, especially if the necessary preparation is performed.
Assuming you’ve selected an experienced contractor that has installed fencing before , a lot of the preparation work will be done through them. To help, we compiled a brief checklist of the most common elements you will want to consider in preparing for an installation. Most of the elements of the checklist could apply to your project, even if you are building your fence by yourself. While the checklist will not cover everything (and your own installation may vary depending on local requirements and conditions), the information was compiled from feedback provided by a variety of contractors that agree on common principles.
A standard Trex installation is very similar to wood and vinyl. The principles are the same: set posts, then measure, cut, and attach rails, pickets and caps. Most of the elements on the accompanying preparation checklist would apply to any fence product. We hope you find the information helpful in preparing for a successful installation!
